Some useful analyses are not preinstalled in Jamovi, but we can access them very easily by installing modules. This is one of the very useful features of Jamovi. While other programs are very difficult to modify after you install them, it is very easy to add new analyses to Jamovi. Even yet, it is also relatively easy to create modules for Jamovi, which encourages statistics researchers to create modules for their favorite analyses. While a guide on creating modules may be in store for a later date, the current guide just shows you how to install modules within Jamovi. Also, the current guide shows you how to install modules that are preloaded, but it should be noted that you can also install modules beyond those that are preloaded. This would require other steps, however, and installing preloaded modules is much easier. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please contact me at MHoward@SouthAlabama.edu.
First, we want to open our Jamovi program, which will look like the window below.

To install a new module, we want to click on the button in the upper-right corner labeled “Modules”.

Then click on “Jamovi library”. This will show us the modules that Jamovi has preloaded.

From here, we can see the preloaded modules that are available for installation. To install one, you need to scroll down until you find it. I am going to install the module, “MAJOR – Meta Analysis”.

Once I find it, I am going to click on the Install button under it.

If successful, the Install button should now read, “INSTALLED”. Neat!

To see if your module was successfully installed, we need to go back to the main screen. To do so, click on the arrow highlighted below:

Now we can see the module called MAJOR on our tab at the top. If you can see it, then you successfully installed your module. If not, take a look back through the steps and see where you differed from my instructions.
